Learning to Blow Bubbles with Gum – A New Skill Mastered

Learning to Blow Bubbles with Gum - A New Skill Mastered

It was in Perth that Master R declared that he had to learn how to blow bubbles with his Hubba Bubba. Chewing gum was fun but blowing a huge big bubble would make it even better. Mastering bubbles became an obsession and I watched him for an entire day practicing again and again. The persistence paid off and he finished the day knowing how to blow huge big gum bubbles.

Have you been trying to teach your kidlet how to blow bubbles but aren’t succeeding? Here are some easy steps to help you explain the process:

  1. It is important to choose the right gum as you need a good amount in your mouth to blow good bubbles with gum. Pop a piece of chewing gum in your mouth and chew it until it is nice and soft. It is important that the gum is warm and moist. Try to blow bubbles too early and it won’t work.
  2. Close your mouth so your teeth bite down. Push the gum flat against the back of your teeth. You’ll need to use your tongue to flatten the gum. Place your tongue on the gum at the top closest to the top of your mouth and slide your tongue along the gum firmly towards your teeth.
  3. Slowly draw your lips and teeth slightly open and push some of the gum through the gap so you create an air pocket.
  4. Gently blow air into the pocket around your tongue. Try to regulate the air so the bubble inflates slowly. Too quickly and you will pop holes in your gum. If this happens, go back to step one so you can try to blow a bubble with gum all over again.
  5. As you gently blow with your lips in an “o” shape, the bubble should begin to shape itself. You can squash the hole by pushing your lips together if you want to keep the bubble for longer.
  6. if the bubble pops, draw the gum back in your mouth and repeat the process.

Remember to take the process slowly. Blowing bubbles with gum needs have the right gum to work, so try a different type if you just can’t get it right!.

  2. For those of you who it doesn’t work for, this is how I learned to do it: works like a charm.

    1. Using your teeth, spread the gum across your tounge until it covers it.
    2. (This may take many tries) Carefully blow near the bottom of your tounge, somewhat under the layer of gum.
    3. If you did it correctly, a bubble should form.

For the biggest bubble, I recommend using Hubba Bubba gum, about 2 pieces.
