8 Unique Mother’s Day Gifts for the Family Traveller

Ever since my kids started school T has relegated Mother’s Day gift shopping to my kids via the School Mother’s Day stall. I’m always treated to a bundle of surprises that Miss N and Master R have selected themselves. Combined with their handcrafted cards and treats, I feel very loved each year.

Sourcing a gift for my own Mother and MIL is harder. Handcrafted cards and $5 trinkets, while appreciated I’m sure, just aren’t the same as sourcing something unique I know they’ll love and adore. Of course, anything produced by the kids is certain to tick the box, but from me and T…..well, we need to lift our game.

My Mum is a bit of a traveller herself, transforming into a Grey Nomad for at least a quarter of each year before flying off  to Europe for summer. With that in mind I have been off on a bit of a hunt for 8 Unique Mother’s Day Gifts for the Family Traveller.
Btw…..love flowers? I’m giving a bouquet away right now. Head to our Mother’s Day Giveaway : Win a Bouquet of Flowers for Mum for details.

8 Unique Mother's Day Gifts for the Family Traveller

  1. Nancybird Bag. I received a Nancybird bag as a Christmas gift 3-4 years ago and it is still going strong and has seen the world with me. It’s perfect for keeping my passport, phone, cards and tickets close. I love the Riley Bag as it would fit Mum’s iPad too. Perfect for plane trips methinks.
  2. Travel Tree Starter Kit. How awesome does this look? What a great way of recording the places you’ve been or the places you hope to go next. This would be great on Mum’s night stand.
  3. A good book. Walking in Better Read Than Dead in Newtown takes me back to my childhood. I think it’s the smell that does it. Books have a very unique odour when they’re all put together. My olfactory sense goes into overdrive. Despite mum moving to an e-reader which enlarges her text, finding a book that she can read in the bath or when floating in the Dead Sea would be perfect. Plus, when she’s finished she could release it into the wild via Bookcrossing.
  4. Seed Metallic Spot Print Scarf. Metallic is a hot trend this season and with a good scarf on my top travel must haves I think one of these would be perfect for mum. At 180cm in length and 110cm wide it can work as a light blanket on flights or even a pillow if scrunched up tight.
  5. Smelling Salts. What? you say. I actually really like adding one of these to my bag before a flight to use during ascent and descent. Cheap but effective, I’m adding one of these into Mum’s gift bag this year.
  6. Kikki.k Travel Journal. A good trip needs to be remembered and documenting your delights in a journal help to refresh your memory about the day to day things you encounter. I think this purchase will prompt mum to share a little more of her adventures with me. Or at least I hope anyway.
  7. Return to Tiffany Heart Tag Keyring. Who doesn’t love Tiffany? This Sterling Sliver key ring will keep mum’s keys secure and it comes it one of those Tiffany boxes we all covet.
  8. Antler Luggage. I’m a huge fan of this brand having received my first set of luggage as engagement gift just before we set off on our first trip together overseas. With mum headed to France shortly and her own luggage looking a little threadbare I have my eye on the new Antler Juno 4W Cabin Roller Case as a possible buy for her this May as it’s both stylish and lightweight.

T….if you’re reading this, I’m happy to receive any of the above too. Thanks babe 😉
