Webjet : Planning Your Trip On Your Phone

With my iPhone becoming an extension of self most days, I do find myself utilising its portability to research for our next travel adventure whenever everyone else around me is engrossed in an activity. These little snatches of time often lead to some great travel bargains. Having utilised Webjet.com.au in the past for bookings, I thought I would give the Webjet Mobile App a whirl to see if it stood up to the other apps I use.

Flights are always the very first step to securing a great holiday. Accommodation options are typically plentiful, but bargain flights….not always easy to come by. As a rule, our family travel during school holiday time. Using the Webjet Mobile App I was able to choose my destination, input our anticipated travel dates. I loved that app knew which airport we needed for our destination (I’m not always familiar with the ‘official’ name of airports). I would have loved if the app allowed me to search for cheap flights at least 5 days beyond the date I inputed. That little omission did mean I needed to search each possible date independent of each other (remember, I like cheap flights!). The Webjet Mobile App did allow me to see all the possible airlines which was fantastic – much better than searching them individually which I usually do. The filter provides quite an array of options allowing you to refine your search by price, duration, stops, airline and so on.

After securing flights, accommodation is next. We have very specific requirements when it comes to most hotels  which can make or break a hotel booking. If sharing a double room, the beds need to be at least queen size – we do not book rooms with double beds as T and I are both tall. We also quite like 4+ star ranking if possible. A pool is a great option for the kids these days, and most of the time we need parking as we are avid adventurers and usually book a car no matter where we are visiting (except Hong Kong – never drive yourself in Hong Kong! I’m thinking Japan will be the same). I’m also a sucker for a good location.

The Webjet Mobile App was incredible at sourcing accommodation options and it was super easy to use. To begin a search I needed to input my location, dates and number of guests before selecting the green search bar. Immediately a list of accommodation options appeared. I could filter these by star rating, TripAdvisor review, price and even distance from my selected locate or landmark. Clever, right?

I loved that I could quickly get a visual of where my selected hotel was on a map and that I could read current TripAdvisor reviews. Once selecting a hotel I could investigate the hotel facilities in more depth. Bright red bars clearly identify what is included in the price such as FREE parking or FREE WIFI. Brilliant!

With flights and accommodation sourced rather quickly (just look at those time stamps at the top of my images) car hire would usually be next. We have decided to rely on trains in Japan, so no car hire for us. However, if you choose to use this option you will find it to be as intuitive as the flight and accommodation selections. I feel quite confident using the Webjet App to research and book our next trip.

You too can enjoy an opportunity to research and book your next trip all from your phone. Try the Webjet app for FREE on iOS and Android.
