Camp Google : Fun and Discovery Awaits

Camp Google : Fun and Discovery Awaits

As a huge fan of the Baby Sitters Club series as a kid, I often longed to head off to an American Summer Camp. I pondered a gap year after completing my HSC, thinking I could spend my time at a US summer camp before travelling the country, but headed off to uni instead. It’s always been at the back of my mind to look into it for the kids. It was at school last week that I stumbled across something pretty awesome.

Camp Google : Fun and Discovery Awaits

Camp Google – camp.withgoogle.com is the PERFECT camp to send your kids to if you’re little apprehensive about the whole ‘camp’ thing as they don’t actually leave your house. Geared towards kids from  7–10, Camp Google is free and encourages learning through fun, interactive science activities and adventures. I don’t think your kids will even know they are learning!

Every week during Camp google, your kidlets will set off on a virtual adventure allowing them to explore exciting new places. After the adventure the science activities begin, all led by experts. We can do them whenever and wherever we like too. Perfect! With National Geographic, Khan Academy and the US National Park Service partnering with Google I just know they will have the cream of the crop when it comes to experts leading the activities.

The Badge Tracker is a component of the camp I really like. Every time your kidlet completes an activity at Camp Google they earn a cool badge which they can print out and collect. Super cool, right? It reminds be of brownies and scouts.

Whilst the camp is free, you will need to procure equipment and materials every week to participate in the activities. These should be easily sourced around your house or are inexpensive. You can find the current list here.

Head to camp.withgoogle.com to start your kids exploring and experimenting with fun science activities today. Let me know what you think!
