There are times when my husband and I scratch our heads wondering what we can explore over a weekend that won’t be heavy on our wallets. We usually fall back on a park with Sydney offering so many to explore. One of our favourites is probably most famous for the tall chimneys that stand above the former brickworks on the site.
Sydney Park in St Peters always offers hours of fun for the whole family. Set on 40 hectares the space offers rolling hills, lush grass, viewing decks that overlook the city, running creeks and lots of spaces for the kids to explore. There are two spaces within the park that never fail to engage the kids: the playground and the Sydney Park Cycling Centre.
The engineers of the playground have put a lot of thought into stimulating the five senses with a variety of slides, swings, balancing equipment, bridges as so much more. It is a tactile wonderland. Parents can find a nice space to sit and watch the kids without too much trouble, and although busy, the area never gets too overwhelming for kids.
The Sydney Park Cycling Centre is always the highlight of our adventures to Sydney Park. It has real traffic lights, zebra crossings, dead ends and lots of road to ride on. Make sure your kidlet knows to ride on the left side of the road and have a helmet to protect their head – there are often a few collisions! If you would like to participate in some riding lessons, the site offers events throughout the year.
The Sydney Park Kiosk is perfect for a lunch. It offers gourmet snacks, salads, kids toasties 7 days of the week (weather permitting).
