A September Escape to Cronulla Beach – Who Said You Can’t Swim in Spring!

Sydney isn’t exceptionally warm in Spring. It’s also not that cold. With nothing planned on a lazy Sunday morning, I decided to be a little spontaneous and take the kids to Cronulla so we could walk the Dog Walk and perhaps spot a dolphin or two.

I was surprised to find parking right next to Cronulla Park. What luck! The day was slightly overcast but we were excited and ready to walk. The views out over the ocean to the horizon are magnificent. We had a lot of fun counting container ships and looking for dolphins.  With little feet and no actual dolphin sightings, I decided to turn back once we reached Oak Park.

When we returned to Cronulla Park the kids begged to walk along the sand. I agreed if they promised not to get wet. Seriously – what was I thinking!

It took less than 5 minutes for Master R to accidentally on purpose fall into the water.

I’m a little paranoid around water and like the kids to be an arms reach away from me, so called them back in for a “chat’ before walking back to the water with them. It was supposed to be a day of fun and they were already wet, so I let them play in the water (ankle deep only) before we returned to the car to change for lunch. I’m so thankful I had the foresight to keep a change of clothes in the boot!

Our last stop was the playground in Don Lucas Reserve. The perfect stop to complete our outing.

Who said you couldn’t swim in the ocean in Spring? We’ll be heading back this September I think!
