Still Awake Still! An Adventure at the Seymour Centre

Still Awake Still! An Adventure at the Seymour Centre

As an alumna of Sydney University I have fond memories of the Seymour Centre so have always been keen to introduce my kids to the awesome productions that often grace the theatre. We’ve seen a handful of their productions already but with the Sydney Children’s Festival running during the first week of the school holiday’s I was hoping to add it to our itinerary.

On whim, I entered a competition via Out & About With Kids and WON! We were super excited to receive a family ticket to Still Awake Still! which has been inspired by songs from the book I’m Still Awake, Still! by Elizabeth Honey and Sue Johnson. It was sheer brilliance!

Wow! The kids were giggling, screaming out instructions, jumping and laughing from about 10 minutes into the production until the end. They were literally on the edge of their seat. At one point they wanted to run to the stage and grab some of the props. The even gave a standing ovation at the end and asked if we could watch it again. It was seriously that good!

The play starts with Miss Ivory Tinklefinger, Queen of Sleep, walking on stage and attempting to put us to sleep. Everything turns upside down as her lullabies come to life. It’s fascinating and incredibly enjoyable.

Still Awake Still! Has now concluded.

After the show we spent some time participating in some of the activities around the Seymour Centre. The magic show was the highlight for the kids and they have been practicing some of the tricks they were shown ever since.
