Miss N can barely sit still at the best of times. She is always active. Always playing. She prefers to be outside playing sport or writing in her journal during quiet times. She rarely uses her iPad. She rarely watches television. These days she veers towards pants and tops rather than dresses. Despite all this, she absolutely adores Disney Princesses especially Elsa and could sit for hours watching Frozen.

When deciding on travelling to California, USA during the Australian Summer holidays, T and I thought that Disneyland over Christmas would be very magical. We were certain it would be full of lights and wonder. By chance I heard about the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique inside Disneyland which provides children 3-12 with the royal treatment, transforming them into a princess or knight. Even I was excited by the idea.

Days before we left for the USA, Santa left a little present for both Miss N and Master R which included an IOU letter. Miss N’s promised her a magical princess transformation when visiting Disneyland. But what could that mean? She was unsure and we didn’t fill her in completely. She would have to wait until she visited.

Our appointment was for midday on our first day at Disneyland. Full of anticipation we entered Sleeping Beauty’s Castle and checked in. Miss N was handed a beeper which she was told would sound when her Fairy Godmother-in-training was ready to transform her into a princess. In the meantime, she could enter the Boutique and choose a gown of her liking. The mice would then get to work making it for her.

Despite a number of choices that included Aladdin’s Jasmine, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Snow White and so forth, Miss N went directly to Elsa’s dress. There was no swaying her from this choice.  When her beeper rang we headed to the pamper room. She was led to  a curtained room where her Fairy Godmother-in-training sprinkled her with magic so she could open it for dressing. A “bibbidi bobbidi boo” and the curtains drew open. Behold – a new wardrobe had been created for her as she waited and was ready for her to wear.

On dressing, a Fairy Godmother-in-training led Miss N to her pamper chair where the transformation began. She chose her hair style and make-up colours. At the end of the transformation she even received a cinch sac with the nail polish and make-up to take home. Fairy dust was sprinkled all around before she was ready for her portrait session.

Lastly, Miss N was escorted to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle where she was invited to meet a number of the Disney Princesses. Oh my! Her face was priceless. I’m certain she pinched herself.

It’s been almost a week since we left Disneyland and Miss N is still telling everyone about her experience. Santa was more than generous this year and order Miss N The Castle Package which included her hairstyle, shimmering makeup, princess sash, princess cinch sac, face gem, nail polish, princess gown of choice, wand, crown, and portrait package courtesy of Disney PhotoPass Service: photo taken near Cinderella’s carriage and assorted prints presented in a themed folder.

  1. I’ve seen girls dressed up whenever we visit Disney but I’ve always wondered what exactly goes on in the Boutique. Thanks for this behind-the-scenes look. Your girl looked like she really enjoyed herself.

    • I took the photos with the princesses. They also take photos for you and at the end of the day you can go to the Disney Photo Booth and pay for them. I chose just to take them myself. Are you heading to Disneyland?
