Our Stay at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel

A Suite Adventure : Our Stay at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel

For the last year or so T and I have been creating our bucket list for our adventures in California. When it came to planning the Los Angeles leg of our trip I had at some point wistfully remarked that a stay at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel would be magic not actually thinking that it would ever happen.

Fast forward to those 3 days when we WERE in Hollywood and we were staying in that exact hotel! Oh my! T had gone ahead and booked us a King Suite in one of the newly refurbished levels. Nothing could beat the kids excitement as they looked out the window and glimpsed the Hollywood Sign and the TCL Chinese Theatre. Welcome to Hollywood!

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is one of the landmark destinations that you read about in travel books. It was the site of the first Academy Awards and boasts a plethora of famous guests across the years since opening. Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis….the list goes on. Judy Garland actually stayed in our room!

So what was the room like? Being a suite it was spacious. Our king bed was plush and i could look out across to the Hollywood sign every morning when I woke. We also had a walk-in robe where our robes hung, an abundance of toiletries and a fully stocked bar.

The living area had a large sofa that converted to a queen bed for the kids each night. Housekeeping quietly set that up each evening when we went out for dinner. The room also boasted a full sized dinner table ands stylish bar area. Woah – were we living it up for those 3 days!

Whilst the bathroom did not have a bath, the shower was gigantic. The window could be opened so you could gaze over Hollywood Boulevard whilst washing your hair if you were inclined to do so, the toiletries were luxurious. I was in heaven!

Our suite was positioned on a corner of the building which provided windows on two sides of our room. This provided us stunning views over Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood Sign and across Los Angeles. It was a magical, magical experience.

I was apprehensive about staying at such an exquisite hotel with two young children, but it was no problem at all. The staff were attentive to all our needs and went out of their way to fulfil every request. With two restaurants on-site there was also no reason to really leave (although who can resist the allure of the Hollywood Walk of Fame?). I was also prewarned by many friends and colleagues that Hollywood isn’t a nice place. The Roosevelt turned that idea upside down making it one of Master R’s favourite destinations across our month-long trip!

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. We booked our stay through Expedia and received a great discount thanks to renovations happening in the hotel. We stayed over the weekend, so we weren’t bothered by the renovations 😉 You also need to excuse the messy room – travelling with kids often means photographing the room comes AFTER I’ve settled them in.

  1. That looks like a fun place to stay! I love staying in iconic hotels with a bit of history about them. When we were in LA a few years ago, we stayed at The Beverly Hilton – which is where the Golden Globes are held. Every year since we get a kick out of recognizing the driveway and the entry and lobby as they show the telecast.

  2. Ha ha – I always get messy hotel room photos too. I once held everyone back while I took a photo of one room that had beautiful flowers all over the beds, two seconds later it was everywhere. I’m not usually one to gush over celebrities but it would be something special to stay in a room that one of the greats stayed in. Lucky you! Thanks for joining in my #wednesdaywanderlust link party.
