Qantas Joey Club Flies Onto the Tarmac : A New Generation of Frequent Flyers

It has been over a decade since T and I joined the Qantas Frequent Flyers program. Within a couple of years we were able to use our points for business tickets to Perth return, upgrade a few flights and even book a quick trip to Melbourne for a weekend. For a while now we have been thinking about how we would go about signing our two children up to the program.

Over the weekend Qantas announced their new Joey Club and I must admit that I quickly made sure both Master R and Miss N were members. Not only will they be able to accumulate points on our regular flights interstate and abroad, but they will receive a few other extras which have been added to Qantas’s service.

To start off with, every new Qantas Joey Club membership receives a novelty passport which will enable us to document our flight details. I am also excited to hear that there will be a dedicated kids menus in domestic Qantas lounges – animal shaped sandwiches anyone? Better yet, the children’s inflight entertainment has had quite an overhaul with a children’s movie channel with 21 years of content and dedicated TV channel with 28 hours of TV shows joining the viewing possibilities. I loved hearing that the latest release movies will be screening on board shortly after their cinema release. They have already confirmed that Frozen 2 will be on board around the same time it hits cinemas!

From June 2015, all new Australian-based Frequent Flyer members between the age of three and ten years old will receive a special Joey Club kit when they join the program. To celebrate the launch of Joey Club, Qantas is waiving the normal join fee of $89.50 to offer a complimentary join for children at qantas.com/kids until 31 December 2015. Happy flying!
