When you are a child, birthday’s are full of magic. A birthday is a time of celebration when the focus is solely on the birthday person. And why shouldn’t it be? It is the anniversary of the day you arrived earth-side. We love to host a special birthday celebration for both our children each year to mark their special day.
Usually Miss N’s birthday falls during the school holiday’s giving me lots of time to plan during the week leading up to the party. This year it fell during the school term. Working full time provides little room for preparation unless I am super organised which I wasn’t this year. So finding entertainment was my first step. Through Instagram I discovered Pretty Little Things Parties which offer a number of Jewellery Party options.
The package that we chose through Pretty Little Things Parties included entertainment for two hours and personalised invitations. The team arrived about 30 minutes before the party commenced to set up the table for our guests. They brought all the equipment and a range of quality crystal, glass, pearl & resin beads and gold and silver plated findings. The set up looked spectacular.
Over the course of the jewellery party, our guests created a necklace, bracelet and earrings (pierced or clip-ons) from the beads of their choice. What I loved about the set up was that each guest had their own set up which included a Bead Design Board, gold and silver plated findings, and a set of tools. I knew it was a hit by the coohs and ahs coming rom the kids. The girls who didn’t have pierced ears were extremely excited to spot clip on earrings that looked like the real thing (I spotted one guest wearing hers out a week later!).
Half way through the party we had a little intermission for food and drink. This gave the Pretty Little Things Parties team an opportunity to complete the bracelet and earrings that had their beading finished. Next were the necklaces. It was really interesting to see the beads each child chose. The older girls liked symmetry and stuck to 2-3 colour choices. The younger girls went all out, opting not to repeat a bead within their creation. Of course, some chose to start off with a pattern before becoming overwhelmed by the choices and finishing their pieces with their favourite assortment of beads. Every single guest thought their piece was a masterpiece and proudly wore it by the end of the party.
I wouldn’t be worried about party bags when hosting a Pretty Little Things Parties event. Each guest is gifted their own jewellery bag to keep their treasures safe. You’ll find that most guests will wear their delights home.
The end of the party was marked by the presentation of the cake, blowing out of the candles and its cutting into pieces. I approached Belinda at Sweetly Irresistible a few weeks before the event with the idea of a jewellery box. She designed and made Miss N’s wonderful cake with only a few instructions, exceeding our expectation. Highly recommended.
The only issue with hosting a Pretty Little Things Parties event is all the mums in attendance will look on with envy. There were whispers of organising a Mothers Only event next time so we could all create our own delights. I’m considering bringing that to life!
Pretty Little Things Parties start at $270.00 and are available in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
