Way back when the television screen was still black and white, the Munsters needed a car. George Barris of Barris Kustom Industries was called to design and develop it. He also created the original Batmobile. When we heard that he was coming to Australia we had to go. Miss N and I were disappointed when we discovered it clashed with a party we had already RSVPed to. It did free up the boys for a day out together.
Over the weekend, Master and R and T headed off to Homebush for Meguiar’s MotorEx which is celebrating its 15th year. Touted as the largest and most prestigious motoring enthusiast event in Australia attracting over 25,000 spectators, they knew it was going to be huge.
It was George’s first time visiting so T was a little concerned that the lines would be too long to get a moment with him. Luckily, whilst the lines were long, the boys were able to get his signature, a short conversation and a photo.
One of the highlights for all spectators is the the FreeStyle Rides Inauguration which shows off an array of hand-picked, never-before-seen showstoppers which are “Inaugurated” at the show. This means, we are the first people to see them.
For over four hours, the boys wandered the stands, checked out the cars and grabbed a few stickers for the toolbox. I’m still a little lost when it comes to all the cars they saw so I think the pictures will have to do the talking.
MotorEx alternates between Melbourne and Sydney. This year a family pass cost $75.00 (2 adults and up to 4 children, up to 12yrs).
