We discovered the Smooth Festival of Chocolate last year and decided to visit again this year. It was bigger. It was much more crowded. But it was full of delights.
Like last year, the weekend proved to be one of the warmest this season so required sunscreen and hats. We arrived as the festival opened and headed to the spots we knew would become busy as the day wore on. First stop – the Tim Tam tent where we sampled 3 different varieties and printed out our photo. I forgot how much I loved this little biscuit.
The number of stalls had increased from last year with more than two dozen on the grassy section of Circular Quay next to the Museum of Contemporary Art. Zumbo, Vogue Cafe….they were our next stop. Because we were so early, the lines flowed quickly and we waited a mere 10 minutes for both our Bumblebee shake (later in the day, social media declared a 60+ minute wait).
After sampling the offerings we headed up to the Rocks. It was here that I became quite anxious as the crowds were quite large by this point. It as difficult to see the stands and the wait was long. We made decision to exit quickly and head out for lunch. Mental note to arrive early next year too!
Our top picks this year were:
- The Vogue Cafe – Bumblebee Shake
- Zumbo Snickers Burger
- Gelato Messina Da Bombe
