Some kids seem to have very little fear, loving heights, speed, water and anything that would usually make the heart beat a little faster. My seven year old daughter is an adrenaline junkie. She soars when pushing her limits and seeks out opportunities to test herself and feel the rush. Living in Sydney provides access to a plethora of attractions that your dare devil child will love.
iFly Downunder – Indoor Skydiving
Table of Contents
123 Mulgoa Road, Penrith, Sydney
With my best friend representing Australia in the world sky diving championships and often staying at our place while training here in Sydney, my little miss has had a fascination for skydiving every since she could walk. Her Aunty Cuddly’s influence has certainly rub off. Obviously I’m not going to ever let her jump out of a plane while she’s under my watch, but indoor skydiving?
iFly Downunder is the perfect place for little kids and adults to try their hand at skydiving without the need to jump out of a plane. It’s safe, still hits the fear factor, and is fairly accessible. Head to Skydiving with Kids for our full coverage.
Sydney Trapeze School
Building 2K, 1-7 Unwins Bridge Rd, St Peters
When we headed to the circus a few years ago, Sunshine couldn’t stop talking about the trapeze artists. She found them fascinating and asked if she could learn to fly through the air too. It’s something I am yet to agree to BUT when I do start to consider the possibility I think Sydney Trapeze School will be the place to head. Could you do it?
Surf Ryder
Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre
I think every Aussie kids contemplates learning to surf at least once during their childhood. My two starting asking before either were confident swimmers. Of course I could be patient and wait for them to be a little older, but where is the fun in that? When I heard about the Surf Ryder program at Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre, I knew it was the answer.

Zipline Tour
182 Knights Hill Road, Knights Hill
Ziplines combine height and speed, two attributes often craved by the pint sized adrenaline junkie. The best place to go for this activity is the Illawarra Fly Tree Top Walk where over 2.5 hours participants soar through the tree tops where they can view the Pacific Ocean from the canopy. Too scary for me, but the kids will have the time of their life.
Horse Riding
Papillon Riding Stables, Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre
I know, I know…horse riding isn’t exactly that high on most thrill-seekers list of things to do, but I’ve included it as the very thought can induce fear in most parents. There are numerous places you can go to ride around Sydney, but the one we keep returning to is at Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre.
Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb
In late 2015, Bridge Climb Sydney open reservation for kids aged 8 and up. For us, this means we will all be able to make the climb from August this year! I can’t think of a scarier thing but it is at the top of Sunshine’s birthday wish list.
What would you add to the list?
The shark reef snorkel at Sydney Aqaurium!
Of course! That would be right up her alley! Do you have a link to your experience?
I think my son would like the skydiving simulation – our recent visit to the Gold Coast proved that he is an adrenaline junkie too!
