Both of our kids love the beach but I am often reluctant to head off to their favourite spot in Cronulla because…..sand. Yep, sand stops me. It seems to get everywhere and by the time we get home I often feel that we have taken much for the sandy shore home with us. So when Tesalate offered to introduce us to our own sand free towel I was keen to see if it would change our beach experience, and perhaps have me agreeing to head out much more often.
So let’s talk about what I think just might be the best sand free towel for your beach fun – the Tesalate Beach Towel.

Introducing Tesalate Sand Free Beach Towel
The secluded beaches of Sydney’s Royal National Park inspired the development of Tesalate sand free towels. A trek in for a swim and then the return with wet, heavy and sandy beach towels led Jacky Lam and Volkan Ozbek to start discussing a solution. Perhaps there was a way to design a towel that didn’t like sand and was happy to lose it all before you got home. Perhaps such a towel could also be on trend and be light and compact so it made travelling to your favourite beach pretty easy.
18 months later and Tesalate was launched at the Bondi Beach Markets. But that was just the beginning. This Australian innovation sold to over 70 countries in its first 12 months! I had to discover why it had become such a winning design.
How does the Tesalate Sand Free Beach Towel Work?
When our Tesalate Beach Towels arrived I was surprised by how different they were to the large, bulky towels that sat in our cupboard. The difference was all in the cutting edge fabric, a fancy new textile called AbsorbLite™. What is that exactly? Well, AbsorbLite™ is a microfiber made from 80% polyester and 20% polyamide that almost repels sand. My understanding is that its unique fibre simply doesn’t allow sand to get caught within allowing it to drop off as soon as you lift the towel and give it a shake. Sheer brilliance. I think it must be the very first sand free beach towel we’ve ever had that actually works!
Does the Tesalate Sand Free Beach Towel Dry Quickly?
The towel is different than your regular beach towel. Picking it up for the first time I was sceptical that it would work as it is a lot thinner and lighter than my regular beach towel.
On our first trip to the beach, Striker ran out of the water with his boardies soaking wet. I handed him is towel and was surprised that it took much of the water off him quite quickly. He ate and then went back into the water, but I now had a very wet Tesalate towel on my hands. I laid it out on the sand and was quite surprised a good 30 minutes later to find that it was almost dry.
In comparison to our old beach towels, it does dry quickly and it can do so on the sand without picking any of it up when it becomes dry again! Impressive.
Sand and the Tesalate Sand Free Beach Towel.
Sand, the bane of my existence. When it comes to heading to the beach, the only thing that stops me is the blasted sand. It gets into every crook and cranny, becoming a serious deterrent. However, this is where the Tesalate Sand Free Beach Towel powers ahead of all other towels we have tried in the past as the sand literally falls off.
If you frequent beaches with your kids you will know that not all sand is made equally. Some sand is like fine talcum powder whilst the sand at other beaches may be coarse. As of today, we have tried our Tesalate towels across beaches in three states, as well as a few country lakes and rivers. All types of sand seem to fall off this beach towel although if it is particularly wet you do need to wait for it to dry before it does easily.
Travel and the Tesalate Sand Free Beach Towel
As a frequent traveller we always find it tricky when it comes to packing beach towels for our holidays, so much so that we usually leave them at home and pray that our accommodation will provide us with towels for our swimming adventures. The Tesalate Sand Free Beach Towel rolls up to quite compact so it fits so easily within our luggage or even my backpack.
It’s ability to try quickly also means I don’t really need to worry about carting wet towels between accommodation. On our last trip away, the kids swam the evening before our departure and I left the towel on our balcony after their shower. It was dry and ready to be folded away into front zip section of our suitcase the morning we left without any issue. Super smart!
Between trips I send the kids off to swimming training and School Camp with their Tesalate towels as I know they’ll dry them quickly and leave room in their school bag for everything else. I’m completely sold.
