The JW Marriott Resort & Spa has been on our bucket list for years (we’ve missed out on a booking on each of our trips – it is often booked out!). Undergoing a $35 million dollar refurbishment back in 2020 it is a gorgeous place to stay.
However, it’s not the rooms that lead me to want to stay here, but rather the stunning saltwater lagoon that features a waterfall, cave, waterslide, a whirlpool and over 300 tropical fish. I can imagine my kids absolutely delighting in the water experience at this Gold Coast family resort!
The JW Marriott Resort & Spa is a five-star accommodation option with each room featuring luxury amenities, marble bathrooms, TVs, air conditioning, WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities and stunning panoramic views over the hinterland and river.
The JW Marriott Resort & Spa features hotel-style accommodation with double rooms (ie. two queen besd) which will accommodate a family of four if the kids are small enough to share a bed. For families with teens who prefer their own sleeping arrangements, you will need to consider two rooms.

We’ve headed to the Mantra Towers of Chevron a number of times as a family and have always considered it one of the best family resorts in Gold Coast due to its amenities and central location. Guests have access to the resort’s indoor and outdoor lap pools and full gymnasium. BBQ facilities, the private theatre and also Beaches in the Sky, the resort’s outdoor leisure area featuring sub-tropical gardens and a 600m2 lagoon style pool. Total bliss!
When it comes to accommodation choices you can select between 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments or superior apartments.

When it comes to pools, guests are blessed with choice at this incredible Gold Coast family resorts including the Oasis Pool (heated to 27 degrees) surrounded by 250 sun lounges and a pool bar, a toddler pool, and a 25-metre lap pool.
The resort rooms accommodate up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children (0-17 years) with two double beds. Interconnecting rooms are also available. There are also 18 luxury villas, right outside our budget, but perhaps a consideration for a special stay.
Sea World Resort

Having recently undergone a refurbishment, the Sea World Resort has rooms to suit up to five people. It also features a lagoon-style swimming pool and water park at the resort including a nightly musical light and water show and visits from Nickelodeon characters.
Palazzo Versace

On our first family visit to the Gold Coast the 5-star Palazzo Versace was way outside our budget, but we have noted a range of specials over the last two years which have made it a consideration. Featuring a heated 65-metre lagoon pool and the type of luxury that has led this Gold Coast resort to be known as Australia’s 6-start resort, this is a location where you’ll want to ring ahead and ask housekeeping to store away the fine china before the kids arrive!
Rooms can be booked side-by-side and interconnected for families.
