An opportunity to learn about the making of movie effects and props with a behind-the-scenes tour just couldn’t be missed.

On our tour, we participated in a sculpture workshop where we learned how to use aluminium foil to create heads. It was so much fun!
One of the highlights of the tour is the opportunity for interaction. Some tours include hands-on experiences where you can handle props, try on costumes, or experiment with the materials used in film production. It’s a chance to step into the shoes of your favourite movie characters and feel the magic come to life. Striker and Sunshine adored trying on armour and using swords
The tour typically lasts around 45 minutes to an hour, providing a comprehensive yet manageable experience that caters to film enthusiasts, families, and anyone curious about the movie-making process. Throughout the tour, questions are encouraged, and the guides are happy to share additional insights into their craft.

Purchasing Tickets
We thought we could easily book tickets on the day but were disappointed when we discovered they were sold out. Fortunately, we were in Wellington for a few days so were able to quickly pivot and change our itinerary and book tickets for a couple of days in advance. Make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment!
As well as tours there are often workshops available where you can learn or refine a range of creative skills.
