The Hollywood Walk of Fame : A Kid Adventure Down the Boulevard

The Hollywood Walk of Fame : A Kid Adventure Down the Boulevard

There is no avoiding the Hollywood Walk of Fame when you’re in Los Angeles. Since 1958 when it was established, it has been a landmark that almost everyone is familiar. What you may not know is that it spans 5.6 km in total across two sections. Just like you’ll see in Pretty Woman, some of the areas are not really nice and probably not visited by tourists very often. With two kids by our side we couldn’t cover all the entire area so we focused on the area around our hotel, the Hollywood Roosevelt.

So how many stars are there? When we walked down Hollywood Boulevard in December, 2014 there were 2,538 which are largely over 5 categories: motion pictures, broadcast television, audio recording or music, broadcast radio, theatre/live performance. Interestingly, both Julia Roberts and Clint Eastwood have declined their stars you won’t find their names anywhere.

Along the The Hollywood Walk of Fame the stars are exactly how you imagine them: large tiles in a coral-and-charcoal colour scheme that are cemented into the pavement. When walking down the Boulevard watch out for people who will suddenly sit or crouch down near a star for images.

Want to visit? Don’t book a tour. Had to the Hollywood Walk of Fame website and check out where your favourite star is if you are really interested or head to the TCL Chinese Theatre and check out the stars around it.
