Having found myself lost in a few Christmas movies, I have developed quite a magical view of the holiday season. I love the lights, the cheesy Christmas tees (or jumpers when we’re in Victoria), carols and gifts. As soon as I started earning pocket as a child, I would save it all up to buy my annual Christmas gifts. These days, I start scouting for the perfect item for everyone on my list as early as possible.
Last Sunday our little family was invited to the Myer launch of the 2015 Myer Christmas Giftorium in Sydney City. I was super excited. It promised to be an interesting day with the opportunity to see the hottest gifts for the year.
With Master R and Miss N at my heel, I knew as soon as we walked into the Giftorium that they were going to be occupied for the length of our stay and would no doubt walk out with a few new toys under their arms if they could twist T’s arm. I was a little beside myself as the whole floor had been transformed into a Christmas paradise and the opportunity to source the perfect gifts for a few people on my list.
Myer’s giftorium is a unique concept, I haven’t seen it replicated anywhere else. With around 2.5 million products on offer over their toy, homeward, fashion and cosmetic lines, it must be Australia’s numb done destination for all things Christmas. To make it super easy to find the perfect gift for those on your list, Myer have scouted their store and built gift lists under sever Myer Christmas themes: For Her, For Him, Tech Guru, Kids Cubby (gifts for children), Paws Corner (gifts for pets), Stocking Fillers and Food Fanatic.
2015 is all about personalisation which I think is a brilliant idea. I found myself purchasing personalised Nutella jars for both Master R and Miss N on top of the “Leah” jar I received from Myer as a gift. Myer is the only Australian retailer to offer personalised Nutella jars which you can order in all stores and online right now. Brilliant! You can ask order personalised Peanuts and Mr Men cartoon prints; and customised leather goods, bathrobes, towels, shirts and both Christmas Stockings and Christmas Sacks. Yay!
As guests, we were welcomed to stroll around the entire giftorium floor and have a good look at all the gifts. We even met Myer Ambassador Kris Smith who was such a down to earth guy that the kids immediately took a shine to him and have since told everyone who will listen how nice he is.
When visiting Myer’s Giftorium you can also check in with Santa and Rudolph. When Miss N heard this, she dragged the whole family along so we could hear her recite her wish list. I was pleased to hear her mention travel would be good in the new year. The reindeer was delightful. Its tail twitches as you pat it and you can even arch its chest rise and fall as it breathes. You’ll need to take the kids!
So what would be the most popular gift ideas for kids this year? My kids headed to the Pop-Up Star Wards shop to check out the merchandise and try the light sabre. I’m sure a few stockings will include something from the movie. They also loved the Arts & Craft items where we picked up a few goodies for their cousins. There was no escaping Marvin’s Magic where we walked away with two new magic tricks. I think Magic is making a come back! And, of course, Disney’s Frozen was a draw card for Miss N who is still quite obsessed with the movie. The most popular item, however, would probably be the Buncho Balloons which promises to fill 100 water balloons in 60 seconds. Let’s hope summer is HOT!
And my thoughts? I quite literally checked off more than a handful of my Christmas gift purchases during our visit putting me right in front of my organisation for the upcoming holiday. It is the perfect place for time poor parents, with everything on the one floor. Highly recommended. You can shop the Myer Giftorium here.
Our family were guests of Myer and Kids Business. We received a gift bag and $50.00 voucher for attending the days which we spent on magic tricks. We were under no obligation to write about our experience, but love the concept so much we had to share (plus meeting Kris Smith just has to be shared!).
