RSPCA Million Paws Walk : A Doggie Day Out

RSPCA Million Paws Walk : A Doggie Day Out

Late last year my kids were charged with the task of caring for my parents cheeky Jack Russell for a few days. We had been tossing up welcoming a new puppy into our home and this was an opportunity for us to gauge whether they were ready for their own dog. Both kids took the responsibility very seriously and by Christmas we started researching for a special little canine to join our family.  In mid February we headed out of Sydney for the country to pick up our gorgeous West Highland Terrier puppy.

After a week or two of our new puppy settling into our home, the kids discovered that only last year there was 60,809 cases of mistreatment and abuse towards animals reported across Australia. This shocked them both and they asked if they could join the Million Paws Walk with our little pup so they could help raise money to provide more animals with safe and caring homes. They even roped in their cousins and their puppy too!

On Sunday 15 May, tens of thousands of people and their canine friends will head to 20 different locations across New South Wales for the annual Million Paws Walk. It is the RSPCAs biggest annual event with all money raised on the day going towards their critical work.

We would love you to help support our challenge to raise $500.00 that will go directly to the great work the RSPCA does including the care of more than 35,000 animals who find themselves in RSPCA shelters each year; keeping the Inspectorate out on the road, policing cruelty against animals; and, funding RSPCA NSW’s education and support programs, ultimately improving the welfare of animals in the community.
