Univers is a gentle, sensory theatre experience designed especially for babies aged 0–2 and their carers. Created by Spanish company Engruna Teatre, the performance blends live music, movement and poetic storytelling to create a magical, immersive world.
In this beautifully interactive space, little ones are invited to explore, touch and engage with objects and performers, sparking curiosity and imagination at every turn. Inspired by the delicate balance of the universe, Univers celebrates wonder, connection and discovery in a way that speaks beyond words.
A Magical First Theatre Experience

Introducing our children to theatre isn’t about finding the “perfect” age, it’s about finding the right moment for your family. The moment when you have the space, the curiosity, and the desire to step into something new together.
For us, that moment came early. We first brought our children to the theatre as toddlers, not because they would understand every moment, but because we believed in laying the foundations for something bigger. A love of storytelling. A sense of wonder. A connection to culture and shared experiences.
Theatre has this beautiful way of growing with our children. What begins as lights, music and movement slowly becomes meaning, emotion and understanding. And it all starts with that very first experience.
If you’ve been wondering when to begin, this might just be your sign that the time is whenever you’re ready.
Our Review of Univers

Univers at the Sydney Opera House is nothing short of magical. From the moment the experience begins, you’re transported into a world where words aren’t needed.
The cast doesn’t speak at all, yet they communicate so much through expression, movement, and connection. Their sense of curiosity and wonder is completely infectious, drawing you into a shared journey of discovery.
The gentle choreography and quiet storytelling create a space where imagination takes the lead. It truly feels like stepping into a brand-new universe alongside the performers, one that unfolds through feeling rather than language.
What makes Univers especially unique is how intimate and immersive it is. The small space allows the cast to move freely among the audience, inviting even the youngest attendees to become part of the experience.
Babies and toddlers aren’t just accommodated; they are genuinely welcomed to explore. Children can touch, feel, and play with a range of sensory props, from glowing objects to pieces that make soft, curious sounds.
Everything is thoughtfully designed to spark imagination without overwhelming young senses. The music is calm and soothing, and while the show is low stimulation, it is incredibly impactful.
Watching little ones engage is a highlight in itself. There is something special about seeing their creativity come alive, transforming props into whatever their imagination desires, whether that’s food, treasure, or something entirely their own.
It’s always a win when both parents and children walk away equally delighted, and Univers delivers exactly that. This is a truly beautiful introduction to theatre for young audiences.
5 stars. Highly recommended for families with babies and toddlers.
