Catmosphere
We are always on the lookout for unique experiences in Sydney to enjoy with the kids and thought that this might be the school holiday break where we head to a Cat Cafe. We are missing Japan, so maybe this is the fun we need. Catmosphere is Sydney’s original cat cafe and 100% dedicated to supporting rescue cats and kittens. So I’m thinking that a visit is actually a helpful way to support cats!
Catmosphere offers a number of fun and unique experiences separate to their lounge. They also boast a boutique cinema experience at Catflix Cat Cinema, and maybe the most calming of them all… Cat Yoga. It makes me giggle just thinking about the experience we are going to have here!

Sydney Zoo
Sydney Zoo is the city’s newest zoo and is situated in Western Sydney and home to a wide range of exotic and native animals. Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park was the very first zoo we took the kids to so they could get up and close with Australian native animals. They loved heading here to feed the kangaroos by hand and it was just big enough to fill our day without overwhelming the kids.

One of the most amazing experiences we’ve enjoyed as a family here in Sydney was climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I was terrified that my fear of heights combined with my low fitness level would see me stall along the way, and potentially need rescuing, but it was exhilarating in all the right ways and paced to ensure participants didn’t become overwhelmed.

Boasting Australia’s highest zipline, the Illawarra Fly Zipline Tour is a unique eco-wilderness adventure that takes place in the magnificent Illawarra Rainforest. If the zipline tour isn’t for you, you can enjoy the Treetop Walk which takes you 20-30 metres above the ground into the treetop canopy. It’s a wonderful way to explore the beautiful warm temperate rainforest and the views are outstanding.

Have you explored WilderQuest? Come and meet Ranger Sam, Pug, Spot and the rest of the gang in a national park near you. During the school holidays, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) run WilderQuest ranger-guided tours for kids to discover the hidden mysteries of our national parks. You can discover our wonderful coastline on a sea creatures treasure hunt, become a waterbug detective, or join an Aboriginal ranger on a bush tucker workshop. Fruit Picking
It’s always fruit picking season in Sydney with at least one type of crop ripe for the picking each school holiday break. Over autumn we generally head off to pick chestnuts however you may need to go the long way around this year with the Bells Line of Road currently closed.
