Best High Tea Sydney for Kids : Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour

When it comes to High Tea, Sunshine has become quite the fan. Small bite size delicacies and lush surrounds have made this type of experience one she adores attending for some serious mum and me time. When she caught wind of Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour launching an ultra-chic High Tea themed around Claris, the Chicest Mouse in Paris, I knew we had to go and I was certain, given the location, that it might just be the Best High Tea Sydney for kids.

As fate would have it, we were invited to the launch of this very special High Tea which coincided with the Bastille Day weekend as well as Sunshine’s birthday! With the invitation extended to include Sunshine’s cousin, Luna, we were excited about our girls afternoon High Tea Experience

The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour hotel is the newest addition to Darling Harbour’s accommodation listing. We have been hoping to look inside for some time and pinched ourselves that we were finally walking through its doors for what is certainly one of the best high tea Sydney for kids.

The girls eyes were as big as saucers for much of the experience. They felt very special with our waiter giving them ongoing attention as needed, refilling their glasses and providing them new serviettes as there’s became chocolate stained.

The highlight was the chocolate fountain. The girls saw it as soon as we sat down and begged to go straight to it. I was firm, adopting my stern parent hat, and set a firm rule that they needed to eat at our table first before they could eat from the fountain!

I found the tea selection quite impressive and was blown away by the scent and taste of chocolate tea! There were a few other great choices, but I will leave them to you to discover (unless you prefer the champagne?).

And the girls verdict? Well, they have decided it’s the best high tea in Sydney for kids (although it was Luna’s first – so she has none to compare it with!). I do think the light, the service, the ambience and the chocolate fountain have sent it to the top for us, but hey….we have a few more to try perhaps?

The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour High Tea Theme

The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour have themed their first high tea around the gorgeous Claris: The Chicest Mouse in Paris. Claris is the creation of Australian fashion illustrator Megan Hess, and Claris has fast become our favourite mouse. Her stories are woven with tales of compassion and courage whilst also showcasing Claris’ innate sense of style. What I love is that they rhyme and they are beautifully designed too with delightful illustrations and gorgeous paper. (There are two Claris books: Claris: The Chicest Mouse in Paris and Fashion Show Fiasco.

The High Tea features a colourway in line with Claris’ books (subtle pink bursts amongst crisp white), stunning plates and cutlery featuring Claris herself, and food delights that fussy kids like Sunshine and Luna will eat.

The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour High Tea Menu

Of course, when heading to a High Tea with kids, knowing what is on the menu is important as you want to be confident that they will actually eat a little of it and won’t be crying out for more food as soon as you left. I was delighted by the menu and felt that it would be consumed without question by the kids. I was spot on!

The Claris High Tea menu includes free-flowing tea and coffee, a selection of savoury and sweet, a chocolate fountain, and soft drinks for younger guests (who will all depart with a Claris the Mouse gift bag).
