Oatley Park Adventure Playground
Oatley Park Adventure Playground has just reopened after a massive makeover. It features a humungous slide, great digging spots, a double flying fox, balancing areas, a teen space and so much more. There’s lots of shade and it feels like you are right back in nature. We love it! (head to Bitton for lunch – let them know we sent you)
Location: 1 Dame Mary Gilmore Rd, Oatley

Toilets: yes

Domain Creek Playground
The Domain Creek Playground is one of two parks in Parramatta Park (the second is Pavilion Flat Playground which is near the George Street Gatehouse and suited to young children). It is the newest of the two parks and suitable for all ages with a bevvy of attributes which will keep you coming back.
This park is one of the best kids playgrounds in Sydney with lots of green space all around, a flying fox, embedded musical instruments such as bells and even a keyboard, climbing frames, mini trampolines and much more.
Location: Parramatta Park, Pitt St &, Macquarie St, Parramatta| Domain Creek playground can be found on the Westmead side of Parramatta Park.
Parking: There is plentiful parking a short walk from Domain Creek Playground.
Toilets: there is a new amenities block which makes a visit to the park a little easier.

Jubilee Park Adventure Playground
Jubilee Park is a fairly new addition to the suite of Sydney Playgrounds for kids. It’s suitable for all ages and even includes a bike track with street signs! Is it just me or are the huge netted climbing frames a little bit scary?
Location: 2b Boundary Rd, Mortdale NSW 2223
Parking: Car parking is available in the Community Centre but it only lasts for 4 hours. For unlimited parking you can look at parking on Boundary Road or George St.
Toilets: There are toilets outside the Community Centre.

Ian Potter Children’s WILD PLAY Garden
Ian Potter Children’s WILD PLAY Garden is an incredible masterpiece built to get children back into nature. It is one of our favourites although is really suited for toddlers through to middle-primary school aged children. However, it is a spectacular blend of garden and playspace and is, without doubt, one of Sydney’s best playgrounds for kids.
Location: Grand Drive, Centennial Parklands Sydney NSW 2021
Parking: Parking can be a little hit and miss across Centennial Park. You will always find parking, it may be a little far from where you want to go depending on when you visit.
Toilets: Yes!

Wulaba Park
We visited Wulaba Park when it first opened and adored the slide. Having said that, ever other new playground that is springing up has a similar slide these days and much more room. Wulaba Park is a great destination if you live nearby and dont need to worry about parking. It also doesn’t have toilets so whilst it is a great Sydney Playground, it isn’t one we are likely to return to.
Location: Amelia Street near the corner of O’Dea Avenue and South Dowling St
Parking: Parking is a nightmare! This is on playground that you either need to get to really early, or park the car somewhere else and walk there.
Toilets: There are no toilets at this playground. ek!
Read all about our experience at Wulaba Park (and see me be a total dork on the slide!)
Constellation Playground
Located on the Bay Run in King George Park and boasting a space theme, this small park is one to head to if you want to escape the madness that often comes with the bigger parks. Constellation Playground features swings, a sandpit, slides, a climbing structure, tripod swing and a flying fox.
We like walking further around the Callan Park, especially in autum as the kids love squelching the leaves.
Location: 22 Byrnes St, Rozelle
Parking: yes
Toilets: within the larger King George Park
Fairfield Adventure Park
Fairfield Adventure Park is our absolute favourite kids playground in Sydney, perhaps because we have tweens and teens amongst our little crew. This incredible park has a range of activities from a super tall climbing net which will take the kids up to a viewing compound a good 11 metres up in the air. Then there’s the ninja warrior course, a tug of war area and even a water mist shower to cool you off without drenching you wet. This Sydney Playground is the ultimate tween and teen space!
Location: Vine Street, Fairfield NSW 2165
Parking: There is limited free parking. Good luck!
Toilets: There are toilet amenties on site

Pirrama Park
If your kids love to dig then Pirrama Park in Pyrmont is where you need to head as this Sydney playground has one of the largest sand digging areas across the city. On hot summer days you will love the ocean breeze whilst the kids enjoy the wide-open pathway of water fountains in the water play area.
Location: Pirrama Rd, Pyrmont
Parking: yes, but it can be tricky to secure during busy times.
Toilets: yes
Casula Parklands Adventure Playspace
Casula Parklands Adventure Playspace is one of the newest playgrounds in Sydney for kids and with its whizz bang attributes has quickly become one to add to the Best playground in Sydney list.
When visiting this Sydney Playground with kids you’ll find they have trouble deciding where to start: the ninja warrior course to the left or the more traditional playground to the right. Whilst there isn’t nearly enough shade in this park, the soft fall and large grassy area below will impress the kids. My advice – head there in late afternoon when most visitors start to head home.
Location: Powerhouse Road, Casula
Parking: There is free parking at the playspace, however it is limited.
Toilets: There are toilets on site.

Bungarribee Park
If you’re heading out to Western Sydney or on your way to see Sydney Zoo, Bungarribee Park is the place to stop for the kids to exert a little energy. The climbing tower is perhaps one of the most colourful out of all Sydney playgrounds, with a vivid swatch of orange, green and grey. There’s a fun water space for little ones to experiement with pumps and dams, a good flying fox and a range of other great inclusions. There’s also around 20 off BBQs and over a dozen covered picnic spaces making it a great spot for a picnic.
Location: Doonside Rd &, Holbeche Rd, Bungarribee
Parking: There is free parking on site. It is plentiful if you don’t mind a bit of a walk.
Toilets: yes, there are toilets on site.

Blaxland Riverside Park
Blaxland Riverside Park Play Space was one of the first Sydney Playgrounds to think big when designing a playground that would continue to be exciting for kids after their first, twelfth and even fiftieth visit. We’ve always called it Teletubbies park for its interesting rolly polly constructed hills. It has that park feel about it.
This park boasts a double flying fox, a mega tall climbing frame with fantastic views that the kids will never really care about, swings, tunnels, the largest outdoor water play facility in Sydney, slides galore and much more.
What I love about this park is that there’s a small canteen on-site as well as the Armory Wharf Cafe. I suggest making a booking if you are heading there on the weekend or school holidays.
Location: Jamieson St, Sydney Olympic Park
Parking: Parking is the only thing that prevents us from visiting regularly. Whilst not metred, there is a time limit and it is patrolled. It’s also quite lacking so I find myself doing laps if I come during the peak of the day.
Toilets: There are toilets on site.

Darling Quarter Kids Playground
When it comes to Sydney Playgrounds, Darling Quarter kids Playground in centrally located Darling Harbour has it all! It’s located right where much of the city action happens and it central to a bustling cafe culture that is springing up in this part of the city that is currently undergoing a facelift.
This Sydney playground has numerous play structures, a pretty spectacular water space where kids can experiment with water with pumps, channels and more, swings, tunnels and even shade!
We tend to park ourselves in one of the cafes these days wth a 5 minute interval checkin for the kids, but when they were smaller I was impressed with all the seating across the park which makes it easier for us tired parents to supervise whilst also taking a moment or two to get off our feet.
Location: 1-25 Harbour St, Sydney (you just can’t miss it while in
Parking: Head to Cheap Parking in Sydney CBD for some ideas
Toilets: There are toilets close by, however I tend to head into the ICC or one of the cafes for a sparkling clean option.
Prince Alfred Park Playground
This park is an unlikely Sydney Best Playground contender but it is so unique I feel that it needs to be included especially if you love nostalgia. Prince Alfred Park itself boasts a year-round, outdoor heated pool with a cafe, but the playground is where it’s all happening. Here you will find a giant yellow balloon structure inspired by the 1870 event which saw Thomas Gale take a balloon ride from Prince Alfred Park to Redfern. The kids will love climbing up and hanging off the play equipment and it even has an elephant slide. Just remember to take your swimmers!
Location: Chalmers St, Surry Hills NSW
Parking: Parking is tricky as there is no dedicated parking on site. You will find paid parking along Chalmers Street when bus lanes are not in operation.
Toilets: yes
Sydney Park Playground
Sydney Park Playground can be found in the Sydney Park precinct. It will always hold a special place in my heart as it is here that my kids learned to ride a bike and also where they learned to skim stones. There’s a fantastic kiosk in the centre of the playground with a great array of drinks, icecreams and food to purchase.
The playground itself is a great space for a game of hide and seek. It has a leafy feel about it whilst also being in the city. There are slides, nets, bridges, swings, a water area and more. Take your bike and helmets for a little fun.
Location: 416 Sydney Park Rd, Alexandria
Parking: yes, but limited
Toilets: yes
Putney Park
It was only a year ago that I worked across from Putney Park and marvelled at its ability to evoke peels of laughter from children all day every day that would carry across Parramatta River. I had to visit. I had to take the kids.
Putney Park has everything a kid would want in a park. It has a super huge slide, paddling pools, a giant tiered climbing tower, a netted climbing pyramid, and lots of shade. I understand now why there’s so much laughter here!
Location: Pellisier Rd, Putney
Parking: yes
Toilets: yes
